Travel and Lodging

Parents and families of graduating students who are looking for overnight accommodations for commencement at University Park may contact the Central Pennsylvania Convention and Visitors Bureau for assistance. The Bureau monitors a large selection of member hotels, bed and breakfasts, and motels throughout Centre County for lodging availability. The Bureau does not take reservations, but you may obtain a list of available lodging (with phone numbers) by visiting www.visitpennstate.org or by calling 800-358-5466 or 814-231-1400. The Bureau also offers maps and directions.

Transportation

VIA AIR:

The University Park Airport is serviced by Northwest, US Airways, United Express and Delta Connection carrier Comair.  Shuttle service is available to the Nittany Lion Inn for hotel guests.  Taxi service is also available from the airport.

VIA BUS:

Greyhound has regular service to State College.  Call 800-231-2222 for details.  Local bus service is available from most points surrounding campus.

DRIVING:

State College is 15 miles south of I-80 on U.S. Route 220 or state Route 26.  Route 26 intersects with U.S. Route 322 Business (Atherton Street) in downtown State College and the southwest corner of the University Park campus.

From New York and points east: Take I-80 west to Exit 161 (Bellefonte), then state Route 26 to I-99 south to State College.

From Philadelphia: Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike west to Exit 247 (Harrisburg East), then Interstate 83 north to I-81.  Then, take I-81 south to the U.S. Route 322/22 exit.  Take Route 322 west to Lewistown and State College.

From Pittsburgh: Take U.S. Route 22 east to Duncansville, take I-99/Route 220 north to State College.

From Washington, D.C. and points south: Take I-270 to Frederick, MD., then U.S. Route 15 north to Camp Hill.  Then, take I-81 south to the Route 322/22 exit.  Take Route 322 to Lewistown and State College.

From Chicago and points west: Take I-80 east to Exit 161 (Bellefonte) and follow I-99/U.S. 220 South to State College.
